TRAVEL INSURANCE

Events outside of both BornWild and your control might occur, so we REQUIRE you to secure an independent travel protection insurance policy which includes emergency evacuation coverage and medical coverage for the duration of your trip with us.

Minimum Insurance Requirements & Guidance

We require a policy with a minimum of $200,000 USD in emergency evacuation/repatriation coverage and a minimum of $100,000 USD in medical protection coverage. Policies tied to credit cards or your personal health insurance coverage are unfortunately not accepted.

Although we require policy start and end dates to coincide with your official trip dates, we recommend that the policy covers your entire trip, including dates of your flights/transit.

Please also ensure that your emergency evacuation coverage includes helicopter evacuation and that your policy provides coverage at any altitude you might be hiking at.

COVID-19 Insurance Considerations

Travel in the COVID-19 era can come with uncertainty and risk. For this reason and given our strict cancellation and refund policy, we strongly encourage all travelers to ensure that their travel insurance includes trip cancellation coverage and medical coverage for COVID-19 illness. In fact, some countries actually require a travel insurance policy that includes medical coverage for COVID-19 sickness. Many travel insurance companies now include this COVID-19 medical provision as part of their general medical insurance coverage under illness. We recommend double checking with your insurance provider that this coverage is included. In addition, we strongly encourage you to ask your chosen insurance provider to provide you with a physical letter stating that your policy provides this coverage. In addition, it is important that you bring a physical and electronic copy of this letter with you when traveling on your trip.

If you do contract COVID-19 in the days leading up to your trip or during your trip, our ability to recoup costs for hotels and your activities is limited. In addition, if you contract COVID-19 during the trip, depending on the country, you may be required to quarantine at a separate hotel which will come at an additional cost to you. Many countries require anyone who tests positive with COVID-19 to undergo a mandatory quarantine period for a specific number of days. However, it is important to note that many insurance providers do offer coverage for these types of scenarios.

Insurance Provider Option

Below is an additional insurance provider that clients have worked with in the past:

Before purchasing a policy, we encourage you to conduct exhaustive due diligence to ensure that the coverage meets your specific requirements and needs.

Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) Coverage

In addition, some travelers wish to obtain optional Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) coverage for extra peace of mind. If so, please note that CFAR coverage typically must be purchased within a certain period of days after trip registration/booking. Several of our clients have done this with Travel Insured International, who offers a CFAR policy (their requirement is that you purchase CFAR coverage within 14 – 21 days after trip registration/booking).
